Laguna Pueblo, New Mexico
shard / sherd: noun
In February 2007, Mark Stevens began replicating ancient broken pieces of pottery found around Laguna Pueblo, New Mexico. Mark captured the detailed designs and shapes of the original shards and made these into pieces of jewelry. The old designs are accurately captured in a contemporary 3-d format.

Each original replica is created in sterling silver and entirely made by hand (overlay technique). These replicas permanently preserve the beautiful artwork of our ancestors in a contemporary medium.

To those of you who have followed my work and supported me through all the years, I thank you so very much. Your ongoing support has inspired me to continue creating these shard designs for the past 10 years.
This year, I was fortunate enough to acquire a substantial amount of gem grade natural turquoise which dates back to the 1970s. The jewelry I will be showcasing in Santa Fe this month will contain this beautiful turuqoise.
I've also begun employing a fabrication technique for setting the turquoise in my jewelry. This new process is tedious but produces a much higher quality of jewelry than I've created in the past. As a result, the number of jewelry pieces I will be offering is very limited. If you are interested in purchasing my work, please see me early on at either show.
This year, my wife Shannon will be showcasing her stunning photography. Her work is simply beautiful. I am very proud to say that Shannon recently won 1st and 3rd place ribbons at the prestigious Eiteljorg Indian Art Market in Indianapolis, IN this past June. Please stop by and see her photography.

Thank you &
We look forward to seeing you in a few weeks!
I would like to express my deepest appreciation for the enduring love and support of my beautiful and talented wife Shannon Carr-Stevens.
Shannon provides all the "behind the scenes" work associated with my jewelry business including: photography, marketing, sales, website maintenance and handles all the daily administrative requirements.
Because of her tremendous support and hard work, I'm able to do what I love - make jewelry and participate in art shows around the country. My success in this field is because my wife is by my side and is my biggest fan.
I truly could not do it without my wife.
Thank you Shannon.
