Replicas of Ancient Pot Shards

Beautiful remnants of our indigenous history have been given new life in a contemporary medium.

5 Piece Shard Necklace

Tashkana Woman 2010

In February 2007, Mark Stevens began replicating the ancient broken pieces of pottery  found around Laguna Pueblo, New Mexico.  The replica pieces are made into wearable pieces of jewelry.

The detailed paint designs of the original shards are beautifully and accurately captured in a 3-dimensional format.  Each replica is created in sterling silver and is entirely made by hand (utilizing an overlay technique).

These replicas are a beautiful way of permanently preserving the unique artwork of our ancestors.

These wearable pieces of history  are replicated only one time.  After the replica piece is sold, the original shard is returned back to Laguna Pueblo.

Laguna Pueblo

Laguna Pueblo is one of 19 Pueblos in the State of New Mexico.  For more information on Laguna Pueblo and others please visit www.indianpueblo.org

Artist Acknowledgement

I would like to express my deepest appreciation for the enduring love and support of my beautiful & talented wife Shannon Stevens. Shannon provides all support work associated with my jewelry and business including but not limited to: photography, web site support & maintenance and all administrative duties.

Without her support and hard work, I would not be able to create as much jewelry nor be able to participate in the shows I do.

I truly could not do it without my wife.
Thank you Shannon.
